Per Quinlan's Character Stars:
Twittering, pinch featured, black haired Irish actress of pale complexion, darting eyes and birdlike movements.
Before the two scream queens of film , namely Evelyn Ankers and Jamie Leigh Curtis, there was Una O'Connor. She was more likely than not to run into some monster or creature. She especially was afraid of the Frankenstein monster.
Born Agnes Teresa McGlade at Belfast, Ireland in 1880, her early career was with The Abbey Theater in Dublin.
Ms. O'Connor started out in British films and then moved to America for Hollywood where she held her own against such heavyweights as Charles Laughton, Boris Karloff, Errol Flynn, Barbara Stanwyck and Sydney Greenstreet.
Her film debut was in 1929 in the film Dark Red Roses.
She was often used as comic relief with her thick Irish accent and her rubber faced expressions.
And when she came into contact monsters both visible and invisible, she usually let out a scream which could wake the dead!

Ms. O'Connor appeared on early television in such programs as Lights Out, The Lux Video Theater, Tales Of Tomorrow, Robert Montgomery Presents, Studio One, Kraft Television Theater and Armstrong Circle Theater.
The actresses' last film was Witness For The Prosecution. Her hilarious testimony is one of the films highlights.
Ms. O'Connor never married.
Una O'Connor passed away in 1959 from a heart ailment.
I enjoyed her performances in The Invisible Man and The Bride Of Frankenstein as well as other films such as The Adventures Of Robin Hood, This Land is Mine ( as Charles Laughton's mother), The Sea Hawk and naturally, Witness For The Prosecution.
