Fay Spain was an American film and television actress.

She was born at Phoenix, AZ in 1932.

Spain began living alone in the attic of her English teacher. The teacher had a daughter who was connected with an acting stock company in Maryland. Through this connection Fay Spain got a job combining the duties of acting and babysitting. She later moved to New York where she worked in a tie shop. Through an associate of Walter Winchell , who was a gossip columnist and who mentioned her in the column, Ms.  Spain received a call from Columbia Pictures but not a contract because they said that she was not pretty enough.

But within a few months she found work with a stock company in the Catskill Mountains.

After completing high school Ms.  Spain chose to pursue a stock company apprenticeship instead of a college scholarship.

Her first screen test was with James Garner but the test was unfavorable. They said that she was not photogenic enough. In spite of rejections, she continued to pursue acting. She accepted any parts so as to develop herself in the acting trade.

She first came to prominence in the late 1950's in such films as The Crooked Circle and God's Little Acre.
