Per Quinlan's Character Stars:
There can't be many Australian actors who went to Hollywood and played Red Indians. Pate began performing on stage and radio as a child and grew to be dark and handsome in a sullen looking way, going to the states in 1951 and portraying period villains as well as Redskins.
Michael Pate was born at Sydney, NSW, Australia in 1920.
Pate's early career in Australia was in writing and as a broadcaster as well as stage work. He had a book of short stories published in both Australia and the United States.
He went to Hollywood in 1951 and his career here in America lasted until 1972 in both films and television. He made some periodic comebacks to the U. S. in both of these mediums after 1972.
