Pat Conway was an American actor who usually played in western and action films and television series.

Conway was best known for his role as Sheriff  Clay Hollister in the TV series Tombstone Territory which ran from 1957 until 1960.

He was born Patrick Douglas Conway at Los Angeles, CA in the year 1931. He was the maternal nephew of actor Francix. X. Bushman. His father was Hollywood film actor/director/producer Hugh Ryan Conway and Virginia Bushman, the daughter of silent screen star Francis X. Bushman.

Conway grew up on his fathers 125 acre ranch in Pallisades Park, CA whereby he had the real background as a cowboy. He learned to ride and rope before he was 10 years of age.

He graduated from Menlo Junior High in San Francisco after which studied acting at the Pasadena Playhouse.

Conway then left for London where he studied Shakespearean acting at the Old Vic Theater for six months.

He served a hitch in the U. S. Marine Corps before he returned to Hollywood with a contract in his hand from M. G. M.

His main roles were in westerns. He co starred with Richard Eastham ( as the town editor) in Tombstone Territory, the town too tough to die. The series ran for 91 episodes.

Conway's first screen appearance was in the 1951 episode entitled Brief Music from The Kraft Television Theater.

His film debut came in 1951 in a non credited role as Sid Cutier in Westward The Woman.

In addition to Tombstone Territory Conway also appeared on television in such programs as Highway Patrol, You Are There, State Trooper, Star Stage, Four Star Playhouse, The Ford television Theater, Crossroads, West Point, The Walter Winchell File, The Texan, The Millionaire, Laramie, Ripcord, The Dick Powell Theater, Empire, Rawhide, Branded, The Loner, Iron Horse, Hondo, Tarzan, Bonanza ( 3 episodes), Gunsmoke ( 4 episodes) and The Streets Of San Francisco ( 2 episodes).

He kept himself in shape physically.

A confirmed bachelor, Conway never married.

His last appearance was in the TV movie The Abduction Of St. Anne in 1975 whereby he played the part of Sheriff Townsend.

Pat Conway passed away at the age of 50 in 1981.

I really enjoyed him in the TV series Tombstone Territory as well as the films Geronimo, The Deadly Mantis and Screaming Eagles.
