William Phipps Was an American character actor who was active in films and television.

According the the IMDB he has 229 credits in the areas of film and television.

Phipps was also one of the actors to be come identified with the science fiction genre in the early 1950's encountering martians, abominable snowmen and moon maidens.

 He appeared in many western films and TV series as well.

He was born at Vincennes, Ind.in 1922 and grew up in St. Francisville, Il.

Phipps originally wanted to become an actor and appeared in plays in grammar school as well as at Eastern Illinois University.

In 1941, he hitchhiked to Hollywood, first performing on the stage and then graduated to films. Later on he began to act on television and also did commercial voice overs racking up a long list of credits.

One of the highlights of his career was the speaking voice of Prince Charming in Disney's Cinderella (1950).

His film debut came in 1947 in the film Crossfire.

Mr. Phipps at this time is still living at age 94 but retired.
