Leading Ladies                  Lynda Carter


American actress and singer Lynda Jean Carter was born at Phoenix, AZ in 1952.

Her father was an art dealer of Irish descent and her mother, Juana Cordova, is of Mexican descent.

During high school Ms. Carter joined a band called Just Us and later on joined two of her cousins in a band known as The Relatives.

She attended Arizona State University but dropped out to start a musical career.

In 1972 she entered a beauty contest and gained national attention by winning Miss World USA representing the state of Arizona. She reached the semi finals in the Miss World pageant.

Moving to New York, she started taking acting classes at various schools. After this action she started to have guest spots on various TV series. Her acting career took off when she landed the role of Wonder Woman on TV. As a youngster she was an avid reader of Wonder Woman comic books.

As a singer she recorded the musical albums Portrait (1978), At Last (2009) and Crazy Little Things (2011)

In 2015 she wrote and recorded four original songs for the video game Fallout 4 in which she stars.

In 1985 D C Comics named Ms. Carter as one of the honorees in the company's 50th anniversary publication Fifty Who Made D C Comics Great for her work on the Wonder Woman TV series.

In 2014, a Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs, CA, Walk Of Stars was  dedicated to her career. She was the 369th honoree.

Ms. Carter received a Lifetime Achievement Award at The Gracie Awards., which is an award presented by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation .

In 2017 the Hollywood Chamber Of Commerce announced Lynda Carter as a 2018 Honoree recipient for an upcoming Star on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame on Hollywood Blvd. for the category of  television at a future date.

Ms. Carter has been married twice. The first marriage was to Ron Samuels from 1977 to 1982.  The marriage ended in divorce.

Her second and current husband is Robert Altman and the couple have been married since 1984.

I enjoyed Ms Carter in the TV series Wonder Woman as well as the films Bobbie Jo And The Outlaw, Terror Park, Rita Hayworth The Love Goddess and Mike Hammer-Murder Tales All.
