TIANA ELG




Leading Ladies                   Tiana Elg

Tiana Elg is a Finnish-American actress.

She was born at Impilahti, Finland in 1930..

Ms. Elg was raised in Turku by her parents. Her father was a pianist and her mother Helena Dobroumova  was of Russian descent.

In the mid 1950's she was signed to a film contract for seven years by M G M.

She won in 1957  the Golden Globe for The Foreign Newcomer  Award and in 1958 she won another Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress - Musical Comedy for her role in Les Girls, tying with her co star Kay Kendall.

In 1975 she was nominated for a Tony Ward for her performance as Donna D'Alvadorez in Where's Charley?

Also on Broadway she appeared in the original production of Nine  as Guido Contini's mother. In 1989 she appeared as Lea in Cheri based on a novel by Anitga Loos.

She has been married twice.

 Her first husband was Carl Bjorkenheim and the marriage lasted from 1953 to 1958. The marriage ended in divorce and produced one son. He is the Finnish-American jazz Guitarist Raoul Bjorkenheim.

The second marriage was to Rocco Coporale which lasted from 1982 his death in 2008.

I enjoyed this actress in the films The Prodigal, Watusi, The 39 Steps an Imitation General.
