Per Quinlan's Film Stars:
Tallow haired Hollywood actor in films after being spotted in an off Broadway play. Bridges' screen characters were usually unreliable braggers who would back down, charmers who would let you down.....
Lloyd Bridges was born in 1913 at San Leandro, CA.
His father was in the hotel business and wanted Lloyd to be a lawyer.
Bridges turned to acting while at the University Of California. He then appeared on the Broadway stage, off Broadway plays and then he turned to films in 1936 in an uncredited role in the film Freshman Love.
He also became active on television as well .
Allegations in the early 1950's that he was connected to the Communist Party seemed to possibly cut his career short.. He was officially cleared of the charges by the FBI.
He became a major TV star in the series Sea Hunt as Mike Nelson which ran from 1958 to 1961.
